Griggs can find no cure for Betty's ailment. Parris, also enters, along with Susanna Walcott, who tells Rev. She is concerned for Betty's welfare, but Parris makes her leave. Parris' slave from Barbados, enters the room. ![]() That's basically the summary of the book it's a good book.The play is set in Salem, Massachusetts in the spring of 1692, and the first act begins in a small upper bedroom of the home of Reverend Samuel Parris, who kneels in prayer at the bed of his daughter, Betty. ![]() People who are innocent die because of false accusations. However, the Reverend believes that the people are innocent and tries to convince Danforth,and danforth refuses to believe him. John Proctor feels terrible guilt for his wife's situation and tries to tell the truth, but he is not believed. In addition, the frenzy gets so crazy that who ever someone does not like, they are accused of witchcraft. Abigail wanting Proctor and angered at his rejection lies about his wife saying Goody Proctor has done something to her by using a doll. The situation becomes so bad that the townspeople call for an expert to come in and make sure if all the people who have been arrested are really guilty of engaging in the supernatural. Abigail becomes the center of the town when she begins to state she is seeing people perform bewitching things to her. Later she is told by John that he actually had a relationship with the girl. Elizabeth (Goody) Proctor sends the girl away. He feels guilty so he tells his wife that he is thinking about the girl inappropriately. John Proctor has an affair with a hired girl named Abigail. "The Crucible" an awesome, it's actually is related to the witch trials in Salem and the consequences that can occur when people go off on a superstitious tangent. ![]()
